Jody and Tim’s friend , Roy, was celebrating his 78th birthday and his wife, Annalore, was hosting a dinner at a local restaurant. They were invited and Annalore graciously included me in the invitation.
Had I not known Jody, I would have never known of Almazen de Sabores. Located in a neighborhood on the outskirts of the city, it is owned by a young couple – the husband is the chef and his wife is the host and serves the food. It is small and charming. There were about twenty gathered, a diverse group from many places. I was introduced to many and found them inviting and good fun.
And all were generous in their good wishes for his birthday.
What better way to celebrate your birthday than
with friends, good wine and excellent food!
And the food!!!!! From the appetizers to the main plate, the blend of flavorings were exquisite. I chose osso buco and Jody and Tim, the trout.
There had been lively discussions all around — the meal arrived and silence fell on the group. We simply enjoyed a wonderful meal.
Champagne was served -dessert came -toasts and song were followed.
THE BIRTHDAY MAN RELISHING THE MOMENT
Jody told me traditionally dinners last five or six hours. We broke a little from tradition and departed at three hours. A lovely evening of celebration!
